SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Relationships with all affected parties were of fundamental importance to KOPPEL A.W. long before the term corporate social responsibility was formally defined (1984).
Our main responsibility is towards our customers, who, by choosing our products and services, give meaning to our existence as a company. Everyone has a part to play: we have too much respect for our customers to identify them simply as generic consumer types, when their true role is as a counterpart to the suppliers, to us and to our competitors, ensuring that everyone is aware of exactly what is expected of them.
Our suppliers: most of these are long-standing suppliers who have worked with us for decades. We enjoy a long term relationship rather than the kind of dumping that, in the end, results in a sterile market for everyone. This is a point, which, in our opinion, has not been properly addressed in the context of the crisis (real and presumed) affecting the Italian industrial model. We attempt to apply the evangelical principle: do as you would be done by to our suppliers. In the medium term there it is not possible to exchange goods or services, or create true wealth without a fair reward.
Our employees and collaborators: we have a very low staff turnover; most employees have grown together with us. We run our company on a paternalistic basis: again, everyone plays their own part, with respect for the right of freedom of thought and to union representation (which are not always assured in today’s market) and a correct exchange of views between organised parties.
It is almost superfluous to stress the importance we place on work and Italian and European technology, which in no way affects the efficiency of our system or compromises the purely economic interests of our customers.
Our direct suppliers are all located in the European Community or the European economic area, where we can be sure that labour laws and environmental regulations are guaranteed, this comes at a fair price, but also a value that we pass on to our customers. Wherever possible, we control the origin of the products and services that our suppliers provide us with. We do all that is within our power to ensure that all forms of exploitation, and in particular child labour, are excluded from the production process.
We would like to stress that our partner in Romania, contrary to popular belief, installs and uses only Italian products: we do not export work, but import wealth to our Country.
The country: represented by the politicians that we, too, elect on the basis of our legitimate needs as a company, but also culture, sport, voluntary work, the health system and in particular, the vital areas of elderly and disabled persons who require our products and service, in other words, that social richness which defines our country and of which we feel we are an essential part.

Our mission, first and foremost, is to produce lifts and elevating devices for people and goods that are built to last, with expected working lives ranging from a minimum of 30 years to a maximum of over 50, depending on the type of system.
Our secondary activity is primarily to maintain and, if necessary, to repair and modernise these lift systems, in order to ensure that they provide good, safe service for the 30, 40 o 50 years for which they were designed and built, taking into account any improvements in the state of the art.
Our activity is not a short term speculation, an attempt to make a “fast buck” at the expense of everyone else, and the type of customer who is not interested in the way we do business would not be the right kind of customer for us, as we would not be the right kind of supplier for him.
In any event, such customers do not make good consumers or market players: they simply create a medium term situation where the end users, through no fault of their own, are forced to pay the consequences of the difficult and unwise choices that lead to poor service at an inflated overall cost.
Even though financial requirements and functions clearly play a part in our company, just like any other, we have no wish to play the part of financial gurus, because the cardinal points of our business are products and service: valid, efficient and economical thanks to the efficiency, know-how and commitment present at every point along the production process.
Thus, we are not interested in making money by speculating on the financial markets, nor do we make use of offshore companies (although we have been known to venture into small countries, but to install our Italian lift systems, naturally!), or figureheads. We have no intention of springing surprises like these on our "stakeholders". Here we are, face to face with our customers, and what you see is what you get, as you can see on the “Contacts” page on this web site….
